Recommended in 'The Times' Newspaper in November 2008, this lovingly restored Barn Conversion sleeps 2-4, set on our family farm and equestrian yard just minutes from Bath. This delightful two bedroomed property offers a fully fitted kitchen/diner with midi hi-fi, single oven and hob, microwave and dishwasher. The utility area has laundry facilities and a fridge/freezer. The property has oil fired central heating throughout, crisp white bed linen, wrought iron beds and lovely soft furnishings. In the sitting room there are comfy sofas, HD TV with DVD player, many DVDs and a basket of games.
Not only does our 200 year old barn have all the modern amenities expected of a four star property, it still retains the old stone, vaulted ceilings and beams. There is a barbecue on the patio for those alfresco evenings, walk to the pub across the field or to Bradford-on-Avon beyond or walk along the lane to Winsley!
Great Ashley Farm is in a fantastic location - we have the Saxon town of Bradford-on-Avon less than 2 miles away with the Kennet and Avon canal running through it, its Tithe Barn, Saxon Church, lovely quaint shops, cobbled streets and great places to eat! The wonderful city of Bath is a twenty minute drive alternatively you can cycle along the canal or leave the car behind and jump on the train or bus.
We have endless National Trust Properties, Great Chalfield Manor, The Courts at Holt and Lacock Abbey (famed for the filming of Pride and Prejudice) and Westwood Manor are all within a 20 minute drive. We are very fortunate to be on the edge of The Cotswolds with it beautiful rolling countryside equally so in the opposite direction is Salisbury, Longleat, Glastonbury, Street (famed for Clarks Shoes) and Wells with its magnificent Cathedral.
Visit Caen Hill locks at Devizes with its straight line of 16 locks and look out for the drays delivering the Wadsworth beer around the town and then onwards to Avebury or Marlborough and into the next county of Berkshire via Savernake Forest visiting the lovely town of Hungerford. If you like to walk or cycle, the Kennet and Avon Canal is truly beautiful heading either towards Bath or Devizes not forgetting to visit Avoncliffe with it aqueduct or Dundas. Bike hire is available in Bradford-on-Avon and whilst you're there visit the Lock Inn Cottage and experience The Boatman's Breakfast!!
